Robert W. DeKelaita

Robert DeKelaita is a prominent immigration attorney based in Chicago, Illinois, where he lives with his wife, Ester, and his two sons, Ashurbanipal and William.
 
Having successfully represented thousands of clients across the United States, Robert has appeared in numerous interviews in the Press, such as CBS, NBC, CNN, NPR, the Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times. Robert has been an advocate on behalf of Assyrians for many years.
 
Robert earned his B.A. in politics and philosophy from the University of Illinois, his Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Chicago, and his J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago’s School of Law. He was one of the founders of the Ashurbanipal Library (now at the Assyrian Universal Alliance Foundation center in Chicago), the editor of Nabu Quarterly, and a member of the Assyrian Academic Society and the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce.  He has written extensively on the plight of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrians.
 
Robert visited Iraq soon after the fall of Hussein in October of 2003, travelling through the ancient ruins of Nineveh in the north, where the majority of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrians live. In 2008, accompanied by five CASCA members, he visited Iraq on a fact-finding mission and attended the funeral of Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho. Robert is one of the founders of CASCA.
