Robert DeKelaita is a prominent immigration attorney based in Chicago , Illinois , where he lives with his wife, Ester, and his two boys, Ashurbanipal and William. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago’s School of Law , and his earned an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago and a BA in political science and philosophy from the University of Illinois . Robert has represented thousands of clients seeking asylum from Iraq , whether Muslim Arabs, Kurds, Chaldean Syriac Assyrian people, or Mandeans, and has extensive knowledge of the asylum process and the country conditions in Iraq , both before and after the fall of the regime of Saddam Hussein.

 

Robert has visited Iraq soon after the fall of Hussein in October of 2003 and also in 2008, along with members of CASCA, participating personally in the funeral of Archbishop Faraj Raho, who was a victim of violence along with three of his assistants. Robert has been featured in various interviews and reports in the media and has written numerous articles on the plight of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrians of Iraq. He is one of the founders of CASCA.
